Research

Wan’s research broadly investigates how individuals negotiate shifting social conditions shaped by migration, family transformation, and mediatization. Methodologically, she integrates quantitative and qualitative approaches, with a strong commitment to social constructionism. She is currently exploring digital ethnography as an emerging method for understanding life in increasingly platformed and visualized social worlds.
Four ongoing projects:
  1. digital association and deviance
  2. media and social policies
  3. family as a caregiving institution
  4. migration and family values
